Time & Expense

As with humans, cancer treatment is expensive.  Although pet insurance is available, many pet owners do not subscribe to it and thus, must bear the expense.  Because radiation treatment and chemotherapy drugs are the same as used humans, the cost is nearly the same.  We use proven, effective drugs and do not “cut corner” by using less expensive or experimental drugs.

Cancer treatment must be taken very seriously and requires the pet owner’s dedication and commitment.  This includes understanding the time involved for proper treatment and appreciating the complicated procedures necessary for cancer therapy.

In addition, laboratory test are required prior to each chemotherapy treatment.  Medicine given at home is required as well as vitamin and mineral supplements and often, a special diet.  These costs and time commitments should all be considered when electing cancer treatment for your pet.

After completion of treatments, follow-up exams will be required.  This will be include an office call, examination and usually laboratory testing, ECG or X-rays.  This takes a full day, so time and expense must be considered for this, as well.

Payment is due after each treatment and our staff can give you an estimate of costs after the initial examination, and then answer your questions.  If radiation treatment is elected, the hospital fees must be paid in advance.
